Northside Hospital Cancer Institute has partnered with the National Brain Tumor Society to strengthen support for patients and families affected by brain tumors and to advance awareness, education and research efforts across Georgia.
The National Brain Tumor Society, the largest nonprofit dedicated to curing brain tumors and improving patients’ lives, works to unite the brain tumor community, invest in research and expand access to critical resources. Through this collaboration, Northside is helping extend those efforts locally by connecting patients, survivors, caregivers and clinicians with vital support.
The organization provides a range of services, including:
- Educational resources
- Patient navigation support
- Clinical trial information
- Opportunities for advocacy and community engagement
A key component of the partnership with Northside is support for community outreach initiatives, including the Georgia Brain Tumor Walk & Race. The event, scheduled for April 25 at The Battery Atlanta, brings together patients, families, clinicians and supporters to raise awareness and funds for brain tumor research. Northside Hospital Cancer Institute is a gold sponsor of the 2026 event.
“NBTS is proud to partner with the Northside Hospital Cancer Institute, whose leadership and commitment to brain tumor care strengthen support for patients and families in Georgia,” the organization said in a statement. “Together, we raise awareness, bring the community together and advance progress toward better treatments and cures.”
Through initiatives such as the walk, advocacy campaigns and educational programming, the partnership fosters connection, raises awareness and supports progress toward more effective treatments.
“A partnership like this allows us to meet patients where they are — not only with advanced clinical care, but with the education, community and support they need throughout their journey,” said Astrid Wilkie-McKellar, MPH, manager of the Community Outreach and Engagement Program at Northside Hospital Cancer Institute. “By working alongside the National Brain Tumor Society, we amplify resources, elevate awareness and stand alongside patients and families as they navigate some of life’s most challenging moments.”
