Ovarian Cancer: Genetics and Symptoms


Ovarian cancer is a type of gynecologic cancer that starts in the ovaries. Symptoms are often subtle.

If you or someone you know are experiencing the following symptoms on a daily basis, see a doctor:

  • Bloating or swollen belly area
  • Difficulty eating or feeling full quickly
  • Pelvic or lower abdominal pain – the area may feel "heavy"
Older women are at the highest risk of developing ovarian cancer. Risk factors for developing ovarian cancer include a family history of ovarian cancer, breast or cervical cancer.
