Bonnie Poteet is a cardiovascular genetic counselor focusing on inherited heart disease. Genetic Counseling plays a vital role in identifying inherited cardiac conditions, assessing familial risk, guiding genetic testing, and providing counseling to patients and families who may be affected. Bonnie sees patients with a personal or family history of cardiomyopathies, heart failure, arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat), cholesterol disorders, and vascular conditions. Bonnie’s father died from a heart attack at age 45, following the same fate of his own father at age 53. This lived experience inspired Bonnie to develop the Northside Hospital Cardiovascular Genetics Program. Bonnie also serves as an adjunct instructor for the Emory Genetic Counseling Training Program.
Bonnie grew up in Cumming, Georgia. In her free time, Bonnie enjoys playing tennis, jogging, gardening, and spending time with her family.
